David Finnigan

David Finnigan is a writer and theatre-maker whose skewering wit and prescient social commentary have brought him international acclaim and an audience hungry for more.

Working at the intersection of theatre and science, his works explore the full gamut of modern human life: from climate change and politics to sex, love and relationships.

In 2017, Kill Climate Deniers received the Griffin Playwrights Award and was nominated for Best New Play at the Sydney Theatre Awards. It’s since been performed across the world, including at the Pleasance in London and the Garage in Los Angeles.

Following this success, David went on to earn a Scotsman Fringe Award for his solo show Deep History at the Barbican London. In 2023, his vignette play Scenes from the Climate Era landed at Belvoir Theatre, and he worked with Club House Productions on 44 Sex Acts in One Week, his raunchy, apocalyptic rom-com. The latter was nominated for a slate of awards, including the Soho Theatre's Verity Bargate Award and the UK Theatre Uncut Political Playwriting Award.

Over the years, David has received numerous industry honours. He was a 2012 Churchill Fellow, an Australia Council Early Career Fellow from 2014 –16, and an Asialink Fellow in 2015.
