Jo Dyer
Jo Dyer is a highly-esteemed producer and curator whose work spans film, theatre and national literary events.
In 1996, she started as the General Manager of Bangarra Dance Theatre, a powerful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance troupe. Working closely with Artistic Director Stephen Page, Jo improved the company’s financial standing and secured essential corporate support.
In 2001, she became an Executive Producer with the Sydney Theatre Company, working under high-profile Artistic Directors Robyn Nevin, Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett for the next 11 years. During this time, Jo produced two of her most renowned films, Lucky Miles (2007) and Girl Asleep (2015).
Later in 2015, Jo began work with the Sydney Writers’ Festival, spending a year as the Executive Director before rising to CEO from 2016–18. After this tenure, Jo was appointed director of Australia’s largest free literary festival, Adelaide Writers’ Week. She received praise for securing prominent guests and garnering national attention for the event, even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
Throughout her career, Jo has received a host of accolades, including Best Producer at the 2007 Asian First Film Awards and two AACTA award nominations.
